Lutheran Haven

Oviedo, FL

Lutheran Haven is a lifeplan community in central Florida, serving the Lutheran community.

The Project

Lutheran Haven is a modest campus with many senior care and housing programs including, independent cottages, skill care, assisted care, memory care, and adult day care. A master plan was conducted exploring many ways to improve the independent housing and offer a different product than the current duplex and quadruplex cottages, some of which were built in the 1970s and had little improvements over the years. The goal also was to keep the new housing as affordable as possible given the demographic of the residents it hoped to continue to attract. Many housing types were studied and modeled, from additional cottages, to small hybrid apartment buildings, to larger apartment buildings.

The team led by Daniel Collins and Kristopher Powell, while at Eventus, landed on an apartment building on the site of the oldest housing on campus. In little over 5 acres a new 48 Apartment independent living building with Dining, Salon, Library/Cafe, Clinic and a multipurpose room was designed and built. In addition the site circulation was modified to better control internal traffic and make accommodations for water management, a dog park and other site amenities throughout the 51 acre campus.
