Smith Village

Chicago, IL

Smith Village is a Life Plan Community in the heart of Beverly, a neighborhood in the City of Chicago, that provides senior care and housing for seniors of Beverly and the surrounding area.

The Project

Smith Village has been in service for over 96 years and offers Independent Living, Assisted Living,  Skilled Care and Memory Care services. In 2017, Smith Village, led by Daniel Collins and Eventus, underwent a strategic planning and master planning process that explored all avenues of potential with the goal to improve its resident centered services, dining venues, update its aging Skilled Care facility and provide a new state of the art rehabilitation center to service both the residents of Smith Village and the community at large.

The team first implemented a few improvements that had an immediate impact on the quality of services offered for the resident. The Oak Room, a full service pub,  was one of those creations and has become the new social hub for the community.

Secondly, the team implemented the design and construction of a complete renovation of the Johansson Building to improve the Skilled Care offering 78 rooms with 66 of those private occupancy and 12 of the private with a shared bathroom in a hospitality focused setting.

The new addition attached to the Johannson building was a critical part of the project that created new dining venues for Skill Care/Short Term Rehab and as well as a new rehabilitation center, Greenleaf Rehab.
